Sweetwater Summit Regional Park
County of San Diego Department of Parks & Recreation
Sweetwater Regional Park, located in Bonita, extends from the 805 freeway all the way to the Sweetwater Reservoir. Its 15-mile trail system spans 500 acres and is one of the most popular in the entire county.

Day-use for this park runs from 9:30 a.m. to sunset, though campers – with a permit, can stay a full 24 hours.

Some cool areas to check out include the Summit Site – which sits on a hill offering a majestic view of the Sweetwater reservoir and rugged backcountry mountains. There you’ll find modern campsites with corrals for equestrians who want to bring their horses. Below the summit you’ll venture through mile-after-mile of streams and stream-side vegetation, grassland, and open space. Mountain bikers are also welcome
